Summer Knock Out 2009 Organisers: Dave Walshaw and Stefan Hartmann
Competition Rules - downloadable Word doc or web page. Note the additional new Rule 5.2 about ungraded players. The Preliminary round should be completed by 16 May. Winners go into the KO rounds proper; losers go into the Plate KO competition Latest information (7/5/09): Kings A have withdrawn completely, so South Shields won their match by default and go through to the next round. Tynemouth Hobbits were entered by mistake, so also withdraw. Dave Walshaw writes: "Now Kings A have withdrawn, there are a total of 19 teams, of which 10
will go into the KO trophy, and 9 into the Plate. The next round will be to
reduce 10 teams to 8 teams in the KO Trophy, and 9 teams to 8 teams in the
Plate. This means there will only be two matches in the KO and one in the plate!
Most teams will be given byes into the last 8 of their respective competitions.
This will be done randomly, with the exception that both Morpeth A and Forest
Hall A are guaranteed to be among the teams receiving byes - because of the
inconvenience of being repaired, I have given an extension for this match until
30th May, and the guarantee of a bye means I don't have to wait for the result
before doing the draw. Consequently, the original 21 teams are reduced to 19. Forest Hall B have now also withdrawn (13/5/09)
Preliminary Round results:
South Shields - bye
Round 2 draw Dave Walshaw writes - "The purpose of the 2nd Round is solely to reduce each competition to 8 teams: so in this round there will be no Plate matches, and just two KO matches, which were drawn randomly and witnessed:
Kings B v South Shields
So everyone else gets a bye. Round 2 results:
